Dryness, dead skin cells that build up on the surface of the skin, and slow cell turnover are often the cause of dull skin. Poor diet, lifestyle, and using drying skincare products can also lead to your skin loosing its brightness & glow.
Here Are 5 Ways To Rejuvenate & Brighten Dull Skin:
1. Exfoliate weekly.
Exfoliate your skin 2-3 times a week using a serum or face mask that contains AHA's (alpha hydroxy acids) such as lactic acid (more gentle) or glycolic acid (more intense). AHA's work by dissolving the dead skin cells on the surface of the skin in a non abrasive way (as opposed to grainy face scrubs). If you're going to use a physical face scrub, just be sure to use something with a very fine texture, and gently massage into the skin.
2. Keep your skin well hydrated.
Dehydrated skin appears dull. Our facial tonics contain humectants (hydrating ingredients) including aloe vera & glycerin. It can be easily spritzed on after you wash your face, and throughout the day, to keep your skin well hydrated and impart a soft, dewy look. Think of it as a glass of water for your skin!
3. Use a brightening serum.
Look for a face serum that contains brightening ingredients such as Vitamin C and Niacinamide. Or better still, both! Use it daily before applying your moisturizer or face oil.
4. Use a face oil daily.
The key to a glowing complexion is a healthy skin barrier. Emollients (such a the plant oils we use in our face oil blends) help to soften and smooth the skin barrier - keeping it well moisturized and in good condition. They are also high in Vitamin E which helps with skin brightening.
5. Eat well, sleep well.
Eat foods high in antioxidants such as berries, citrus fruits, green leafy veggies, oily fish, and nuts to help improve your skin's appearance. Avoid or limit caffeinated beverages with meals. Caffeine interferes with the body’s absorption of vitamins and minerals. Sleep is the skin's restorative time when your skin cells repair themselves and regenerate - so make sure to get a full 7-8 hours!
